Popular Poker Games
First, you should know
that poker is a common name of several card games. In all these
games gamblers make bets, depending on the cards they hold. All
poker games have a common “bank” consisting of the gamblers’ bets
that are made according to the players’ card combinations and are
played with 52-card deck. Depending on the game type, the number of
players varies from two to ten.
Now let’s take a closer look on the differences of the different
poker types.
Texas Holdem Poker. First of all we should say that there are Limit
Holdem, where the size of bets is limited and No limit Holdem, where
players may raise or bet as much as they wish. Texas Holdem is an
easy game. At the beginning of the game gamblers make blind bets.
The blinds provide the required amount of money in the bank. Each
player is dealt two cards face down, and plus there are five common
cards. All cards can be used to make up a winning combination. So,
we see that Texas Holdem is a there are four betting rounds.
In five common cards and each player is dealt four cards of his own.
The winning combination can be made out only out of two “pocket”
cards and three common cards. In Omaha poker blind bets are made, as
well as in Texas Holdem. So we see that the rules are similar. A
larger number of cards make Omaha a little more complicated than
Texas Holdem poker; but at the same time it gives a player more
chances to get a strong hand. That means that the players spend more
time at the table having good combinations and that leads to the
increase of the bank.
First of all there are no blinds. Antes are used to provide the
required amount of money in the bank. There are five betting rounds
instead of four. The player with the lowest card must make a
bring-in bet in the Bring section but the player with a better hand,
should act first in the later rounds of Betting Section. In the
Showdown, each player makes the best five card hand possible out of
their own seven cards, as there are no common cards in this poker
game.
Five Card Draw is the kind of poker you see in movies and on TV. The
game has Antes as well as Blinds. The dealer deals every player five
cards face down. After all players receive their cards, the first
betting round begins. Then the draw round follows, in which a player
can “stand pat”, meaning he’ll keep all five cards, or he can throw
away any amount from 1-5 cards, and replace them with an equal
number of cards from the top of the deck. |
